Have more questions? Submit a request

The File Submission activity (assessable, and non-assessable) involve the student submitting document/s, which may or may not require assessment.

The student can upload their own document, or you can provide a document template which they need to complete for submission.

How to Set Up File Submission Activity

  1. Follow steps 1 - 4 as outlined on the create an activity help page

  2. Link or upload resources (optional). This may include supporting material, detailed PDF instructions, templates or other documents the student will require to assist them in collating their own document/s for submission.

    Before you have saved the activity, you have the opportunity to provide external links

    Once the activity has been saved, you will instead have the opportunity to attach files

  3. Provide instructions in the notes tab (optional).
    The notes tab allows you to populate instructions which are visible in the student portal. This might include information on what their file submission should contain, and any marking criteria

Assignment Activity Workflow

  1. Student logs into their portal and obtains information about the file submission
  2. Student collates their file/s and submits these via student portal

    If the file submission activity is assessable;

  3. The assessor receives a notification in their submissions list the the file submission is ready to assess
  4. The assessor reviews the file submission and;
    • leaves the result as pending, and returns the activity to the student with feedback for them to have further attempts at their file submission
    • marks the file submission with a 'satisfactory' result
    • marks the file submission with a 'not satisfactory' result. This locks the activity and the student may not have any further attempts at answering correctly
