  What are Access Changes?

It is important to evaluate the potential impact of enabling the Catapult LMS LTI Integration on your platform settings and user experience. Please review the changes thoroughly prior to activating the integration to ensure a smooth experience.

Forced Changes

A Forced Change indicates an automatic adjustment within the system that occurs when you enable your LTI Integration with Catapult LMS.

Learners can no longer access the Catapult LMS directly.
This issue also impacts users with multiple permission levels. For instance, if someone with both Admin and Learner privileges logs in as an Admin and subsequently switches to the Learner portal, they will be automatically logged out of the system. Moreover, they will be presented with a warning notification that states, "Direct Access to LMS is Not Permitted."
Learner Dashboard / In-System Messages are Disabled
The Learner Dashboard and inter-unit navigation pages have been disabled for users. This is because external systems prefer to have control over the learner's journey, which restricts the ability to navigate freely between units. Although the Messages feature is still functional, it is not accessible to learners. The only way to access Messages is through the "top menu bar" in Catapult, which is only available on the Dashboard and navigation pages. However, these pages are not accessible to learners as previously mentioned.
Changes to Automated System Notifications
Catapult sends out several automated emails, such as user welcome emails, enrolment notifications, submission/marking notifications, cancellation emails, trainer change emails, and more. To avoid interfering with external system workflows, most of these emails are disabled by default, with a few exceptions.

[1] Welcome emails continue to be sent to Admin and Trainer users, who have the option of logging in to Catapult directly.
[2] Trainers are still receiving submission notifications via their listed email address when learners submit work for marking.

Optional Changes

An Optional Change represents a customisable aspect of the system, allowing the Administrator to make adjustments based on preference when enabling the Catapult LMS LTI Integration.

Theory Only / Assessment Only Toggle
If you activate LTI access, you can choose to set the Catapult LMS into a Theory-only or Assessment-only mode. This means that only the selected type of content (either Theory or Assessment) will be visible for LTI access, while all other content will be hidden. It's important to note that the hidden content is not removed or deleted, but simply not transmitted to the external system. Additionally, removing Assessments will also remove the submission cycle.
Changes to Automated System Notifications
After making the necessary changes as mentioned earlier, there are several automated notifications that can be turned on or off as per your preference.

[1] New Admin Welcome Email
[2] New Trainer Welcome Email
[3] New Learner Welcome Email
[4] Learner and Trainer New Enrolment Notification
[5] Notification Sent to Trainers when their Enrolment Assignments are Changes (i.e. they are added to or removed from an existing enrolment)

With API integration, there is some control over email notifications, but we strive to align them with LTI preferences to avoid any issues.
