Time Extension - Fully Automated

Have more questions? Submit a request

To utilise a fully automated workflow, enable for a student to request and self-serve their time extension request where a daily fee is charged.

Set up

This workflow requires that the system defaults allow students to request extra time.

In addition, at course or unit level the below configuration is required;

- a maximum course completion time is applied
- the box to 'Allow self-serve time extensions' is selected
- a daily rate for the extension fee is stipulated

NOTE: As the process is fully automated, we suggest turning off dashboard and email notifications for time extension requests. There is nothing for admin to action when this is automated.

Workflow

  1. Student selects to buy more time
When a student approaches the maximum time to complete their course, they will see the option to "Buy more time..." on the dashboard for that course or unit.

  2. Student submits time extension request
A student will be prompted to read any policy, terms & conditions (if applicable), indicate the number of days they would like to extend their access for and click the submit button.

Optionally, they can clear the "Buy more time..." notice by clicking the button to indicate that for this enrolment there is "No extension required".

  3. Student receives payment request automatically, and places payment

The student is taken to a payment request checkout via student portal.

This is generated automatically, based on the daily fee stipulated at course or unit setup, and the number of days extension the student has requested.

The student can place payment immediately, or choose to pay later via their billing tab.

  4. Student can now see the additional time applied to their enrolment
Once a student places payment on the payment request, their time extension is automatically activated and the additional time added
