What is a Training Venue?
This article offers a step-by-step guide on how to add a Training Venue. Training Venues are locations assigned to Events, Practical Sessions, or Timetables and are crucial for AVETMISS Reporting when associated with an Accredited Course or Unit Timetable.
Add a New Location
- Go to Setup → Places → Training Venues.

Complete the + Add New Location window located on the right-hand side of the page. Once complete, click Continue.
[1] Short Description: This brief description will be displayed whenever training is scheduled at this venue. It's important to keep it concise to ensure the full title can be accommodated in the timetable, especially when space is limited.
[2] Venue Name: The venue name will be displayed whenever this location is scheduled for training use. *AVETMISS field name "Training Organisation Delivery Location Name" - NAT00020.
[3] Address: The next step depends on whether the training venue is a Physical or Virtual location.
- Virtual Location - If it's a Virtual location, just check the checkbox and select a Timezone.
- Physical Location - If the venue is at a Physical location, click on the empty text box under the Physical heading to reveal the address details. Enter the Venue's Address into the form that appears (AVETMISS field names "Address Location", "Postcode", "State Identifier", and "Country Identifier" - NAT00020).
Complete the New Location Details
Now that the Training Venue has been added, you can add additional information.
[1] Venue Information: This section is optional and is intended to offer students attending the training access to additional information through the Student Portal.
[2] Venue Type: You have the option to set the Venue Type as either Public or Private. Please note that Private Venues cannot be used for Public Timetables.
[3] Financial Information: If relevant, you can specify the cost of using this venue by entering a value in either the Hourly or Daily fields. These fees are used to calculate the profitability of your training.
[4] Xero Custom Tracking: If you have integrated with Xero, you can choose to assign a Xero Tracking Code to each venue you create. For more details on setting up Xero integration, please refer to our configuration guide.
Generate Map
Located on the right-hand side of this page is the option to generate a map for students to utilise as a visual reference. Simply click 'Click to Generate Map' to initiate the map generation process using the address information you've provided.
This will generate a Google Maps location.
