Introduction to Alert Settings
Alert Settings enable Admins and organisation staff to receive notifications for system updates, such as new learner enrolments in courses. These notifications can appear as System Alerts on your Dashboard or be sent to an individual staff member or an organisational email distribution list.
Additionally, the Alert Settings page allows you to configure SMS Messaging for automated messaging to Admins and Learners. This article will also guide you on setting up outgoing emails to increase the delivery success rate to learners.

Amazon Simple Email Service
Vasto utilises Amazon Web Services to send Email Notifications to ALL Users, which enhances delivery success rates and reduces the chances of messages being marked as spam.
By default, messages are sent from Vasto's email address (no-reply@elearner.net.au). However, you can customise the 'FROM' and 'REPLY-TO' addresses by authorising us to send emails on your behalf.
To set up this feature, you need to add three DNS records to your domain name, allowing Amazon to confirm that Vasto is trusted to send messages for you. You can enable reply-enabled messaging and set designated FROM addresses for different message types under Amazon Simple Email Service Settings.
To make these adjustments, you may need to modify your domain name settings, typically with the help of your IT team.
Steps to Set Up Amazon Simple Email Service
- Add the Email Addresses to each row under the Sender Email Address column heading.
- Click, Save.
- Once Saved, you will be presented with the DKIM Settings, Domain Verification Settings and SPF Record Settings. Please pass this information on to your IT Team or Domain Provider.
- Once added, use the 'Check' button under the Check Link column header to confirm each item has been successfully configured.
Please note, if you choose not to complete this step all emails will automatically come from no-reply@elearner.net.au by default to which recipients can't reply.
SMS Integration
The SMS Integration feature for the Vasto platform provides a convenient way to manage the billing settings for SMS messages sent through broadcast functions or automated course/unit-level messages.
Additionally, it enables you to customise the 'brand' and 'from' number displayed to your end-users, ensuring a professional and consistent appearance in your communications.
To use the SMS function, you need to configure the following:
-
Primary User Mobile Number (Optional) - To allow recipients to reply to an SMS, provide a valid mobile number associated with your business.
-
Message Branding - This feature customises the 'From' name displayed on SMS messages sent to recipients, such as your organisation's name (e.g., RTO Name). The name should be 3-11 alphanumeric characters, include at least one letter, and have no spaces.
SMS message alerts are only accessible for recipients who have provided a valid mobile phone number and have not opted out of receiving SMS messages. It is not applicable for broadcasted messages.
