 What is a widget?

A widget is web frame which you can create in the Vasto system, and then install on your website. Widgets can be installed and placed on your website either by using the provided iFrame code, or if your website is built with WordPress you can download and install the Vasto Widget plugin which will allow you to access widget short codes from your WordPress administration dashboard.

Integrated Extensions

Regardless of which method you use (iFrame code or WordPress widget) you will need to set up integrated extensions, which enable you to display content from your Vasto widget collection on other websites and platforms.

Request API Keys

You will require a separate key for each different domain that your Vasto widgets will be displayed on.

Widgets may not work correctly if there are not API keys created for the website domain which is displaying the widget.

For example - if you are displaying widgets on www.mywebsite.com with iFrame code and there is not an API key created for this website, the widget may not function as intended.

  1. Navigate to Connect > Widgets
  2. Scroll down to Integrated Extensions - API Keys on the left side of the screen
  3. Click button to Request new keys
  4. Enter the domain name (without the https:// prefix) and click Submit

Your new keys will be populate as a list in the API Keys section.

Each domain will have a unique API Key and a Secret Key.

iFrame Code

When a widget is created, Vasto will generate a unique iFrame code which can be copied and pasted into your website code. This will make the widget display on your web page.

  1. Navigate to Connect > Widgets

  2. Scroll down to your Widget Collection, and click the edit button to view the widget editor
