Why Create A Course Profile Widget?

A course profile widget displays the course description and general information for public viewing on your website. This is useful for a prospective student to evaluate whether the course is suitable for their needs.

Information displayed in a course profile widget is drawn from the description tab of the course or unit. See help page on course tabs and unit tabs for more information.

How to Create a Course Profile Widget

  1. Navigate to Connect > Widgets.

  2. In the Add a Widget section on the left of screen, select Course Profile from the drop down menu.

  3. Provide a Unique Name for this widget. This is for admin reference only, it is not displayed anywhere on the widget. It is intended to help an admin user identify the widget from the widget collection.

  4. Once you have selected the widget type and provided a unique name, click continue.

Make sure that you have saved any changes to apply your settings to the rendered preview.

A pop-up will open which is fully interactive and allows you to preview exactly how the widget would look when installed on your website.

The course profile widget display is an accordion menu, where each sub heading can be expanded by clicking the arrow to read the information contained under that sub heading. Likewise, clicking the arrow when expanded will shrink the sub-item and hide the contents.

Superseded Courses or Units

If a course has been superseded and it has a course profile widget linked to it, a flashing alert will now warn of this in the widget collection.

To view the widget collection navigate to Connect > Widgets.

If a course or unit is superseded this means on the course or unit profile in the map tab, that a code has been entered in the 'superseded by' field. This indicates the course or unit is no longer the most up-to-date version which exists and it has been replaced.
