Create a New Nationally Recognised Course

Vasto has a useful function which makes creating Nationally Recognised Courses easier. This function uses the Training.gov.au website's data about courses and their units, to give you a simple list of units which you can select from to add units to your course with a single click. 

All you need to do is enter the course's nationally recognised code, and this function will automatically configure the course settings and add the selected units for you.

NOTE: It's important to check the auto-filled settings for the course and its units before making them available to students. We cannot 100% guarantee the accuracy of these settings, and are providing this as a helpful time-saving function only.

1. Add a new course
   Navigate to courses (Courses > My Courses) and click the button to ADD NEW 
   
   
   
2. Provide the recognised code for the course you wish to create
   If you are unsure, refer to the Training.gov.au website
   You do not need to enter the course's title.
   Click the CONTINUE button.
   
   

3. Choose what to do if any of the units in the list already exist in your account;

   • Create and attach a new version of the unit
     (which you can safely edit, because it is a separate version to the existing version/s of the unit)
     
     

   • Attach the existing version of the unit
     (where any changes made will also impact this unit where it is within other courses or as a single unit of competency)
     
     Existing units will show in the list with blue text - per your selection here, either the existing version of the unit or a new blank version of the unit will be added to your course. 

     
     
     
     

4. Choose the constituent units which you want to add to the course

   The 'essential' column shows whether each of these units is considered core or elective (according to the specifications on Training.gov.au website). 

   Select units one-by-one, or use the Select All button below to select them all at once.

   

   Cancel - cancel the process to add constituent units to the course. This will only keep the course shell. The course shell will stay empty, and can be filled with your own choice of units later.

   Deselect All - deselect any unit(s) which you had previously selected in the list.

   Select All - select all the units shown here in the list.

   Add Selected Units - instantly adds any selected units (which have been chosen in the list) to the course. The course is now created, and appears in your course list.
