Credit-Only Units

Credit-only units allow you to acknowledge that a student has achieved what is required for a unit, without explicitly completing learning content created for said unit.

The student's completion of other learning activities or units within the course will fulfil the requirements for the credit-only unit, and they can be credited with completion for this unit by proxy.

Students do not see these units in their student portal - they are only used for administrative purposes.

For example: in completing HLTAID011 Provide First Aid, a student will also complete the requirements of HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. The HLTAID011 course includes all the same competencies and assessments required for a completion in HLTAID009. In theory, this would make the student eligible for a direct credit for the HLTAID009 unit.

Create a Direct Credit Unit

  1. Make a unit in a course (see Add a Unit to a Course for instructions)

  2. Convert unit to a Credit-Only unit
Convert the unit from being a regular unit to being a credit-only unit.
In the units tab, click the green arrow, to the right of the unit.4616_.jpg

  3. How to recognise it is a Credit-Only unit
The unit will turn green to indicate it's now a credit-only unit.4617_.jpg

Change a Credit-Only unit back to a regular unit

A credit-only unit can be converted back into a regular unit.
Click the black arrow, to the right of the unit title.

The unit will show in the grey colour for regular units.

NOTE: When a credit-only unit is converted back to a regular unit, it will be an elective unit.
If it should be a core unit, you will need to make it so. See Define Core and Elective Units.
