The validate tool will check that your data is in the correct format. It will pick up any missing details which are critical to creating a valid report, and get you to fix this before you generate.
In addition to using the validate tool, we also strongly recommend that you visually check these files to make sure that they include all your desired data.
How to use the validate tool
- Click the Validate button
- When the data is successfully validated a notification will advice Validation Complete
- If any validation errors are found, an alert message will be displayed describing the error, with a fix quick link to the offending item

Frequently Asked Questions
Question: If I have not fixed all the validation errors, will I still be able to generate the report?
Errors will not prevent you from being able to generate a report. This allows you to proceed should the errors not be relevant to your circumstances.
Question: If I do not have any errors when running the validate tool, does that mean my data is tidy and ready to submit to NCVER or state reporting bodies?
The validation tool will pick up only critical information which is missing and may impact the validity of your NAT file - it is not a comprehensive error report. A comprehensive error report from NCVER or the state reporting body may provide details of additional errors not picked up by the validate tool.
