There is the ability to add more detailed information to an exam section - such as a section description or learning materials as well as additional section level settings.
If you want the questions presented in a specific order, you also lock in your question order at section level.
Navigate to the Section
- Go to Courses > My Exams
- Use the search function or locate the exam in the list, and click the edit icon
- Click on the Structure button
- In the Sections area, click the edit icon
Lock in Question Order
If you have selected that you want these presented in a specific order, you will need to lock in your preferred question order.
To do this, per the advice of the on-screen message in the red box you should;
- Hover mouse over any question. The cursor should show a vertical arrow
- Click and drag it up or down in the list OUT of it's position
- Release
- Click and drag it BACK to it's correct position in order
- Refresh the page
You will know it has actioned successfully when the on-screen message turns to a green box
Edit Exam Section
Edit the section title
To create a section you must provide a title, you can edit the section title here
Provide a section description
This description will also be visible to students during the exam, and can be used to describe the type of questions, or the number of questions, in this section.
Upload or attach learning material
This material will be visible to the student before the start of the section. This could include reading material the students may need to refer to in order to answer the questions in this section.
- Click attach file(s) to browse for and upload a new file or attach a file already uploaded to your file manager
- After it is uploaded/attached, you will see the file appear in the learning materials list
- You can Download, Edit or Delete the uploaded resource using the buttons pictured below
Advanced section settings
- Choose how many questions must be answered for the given section
Select all, or define the number of questions the student should be required to attempt - Choose the order of the questions
Random order, or per the set order the appear at the right-side of screen - Choose if you want to display questions on the index page of the section in the student's portal
Allows student to navigate directly to a specific question
The settings you specify here at section level WILL override the default question order settings for the exam as defined in the exam structure
