One you have created your new exam, you will need to configure and set up the exam details. 

Setup and Edit Exam

If you created the exam via Courses > My Exams > Add New, you will navigate directly to the setup page.

If you created the exam via the Exam (Online) Activity, you should open to the setup exam page following the below steps;

  1. Navigate to Courses > My Exams
  2. Locate the exam you want to set up, either use the search function - or locate in the list
  3. Click the edit icon

Exam Setup Tasks

On the left side of the exam setup page, there are five buttons which allow you to further edit and set up the exam.

  1. Structure - Where you can configure the top level exam settings, resources and titles

  2. Questions - Takes you to the section view, where you can review, add and remove questions that are attached to the exam and edit settings, resources and titles for the sections

  3. Replicate - Clone this exam. This is useful for making content changes to an exam. By replicating the exam you to retain the original exam and questions for audit purposes (and thus your historic student data), but can easily make changes in the cloned exam version for your future students.

  4. Archive - Move the exam from your active exam list to your archive exam list

  5. Delete - Delete the exam entirely.
    Use with caution, if historic students completed this exam, deleting will result in data loss.
    Questions within exam are not deleted, these need to be deleted at question level.

Exam Details

On the left side of the exam setup page, you can see a summary of the exam details, including;

  • The title and admin descriptor (if populated)
  • Exam assessment type - automated or human assessment 
  • Number of questions and sections in this exam
  • Compliance mapping Excel export - see help page on compliance for more information
  • List of units this exam is applied to
  • Links to any cloned versions of this exam
  • Warning statement - if this exam has been used by students, we advise you to not edit or delete this exam as it will result in data loss

Full Question & Answer (Q&A) View

The Full Q&A View allows you to quickly and easily see an overview of the entire exam in a single place - including introductory text, sections, learning materials and resources, questions and answers.

This is useful to review the exam content as a whole.

  1. From the exam setup page, click the FULL Q&A VIEW button at the bottom right corner of the screen

  2. This will open an on-screen preview of the entire exam

  3. Next to each question are two quick links;
    • edit question - opens this question in the question editor so you can quickly make changes
    • remove question from this exam - click this to remove a question from the exam

NOTE: This will not delete the question - it will stay in your question library.
